Drs. Frederic & Gloria Pinkney are the founders of Joshua Christian Faith Center established in 1992. The primary purpose of this Ministry is to teach the Word of God and to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in a clear and precise manner that others will understand and thereby adopt the Word into their everyday way of life. They are both former educators. Dr. Frederic taught in the Duval County School System for over 15 years before retiring to pursue God’s vision of opening a Christian School. Dr. Gloria Pinkney taught in the Duval County School System for over 19 years before leaving to work full time in the ministry beside Dr. Frederic.
On August 19, 1996, God allowed them to open Joshua Christian Academy whereby youth will be trained spiritually and academically. The school provides care for children 6 weeks to Grade 12th which is recognized by the Duval County School Board for its academic excellence. Joshua Christian Academy is Accredited with the National Association of Private Schools. God has truly been faithful to our ministry. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” II Corinthians 5:7.
Biography of Frederic Pinkney
Dr. Frederic Byron Pinkney is the pastor and founder of Joshua Christian Faith Center Inc. located in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dr. Pinkney is married to the lovely Gloria who is the co-founder and co-pastor of Joshua. They are the proud parents of two loving and outstanding daughters who work full time in the ministry. Minister Lisa Harris serves as director and principal of Joshua Christian Academy. Shayla Pinkney serves as the pastor’s administrative assistant, graphics and media department director. They are the proud grandparents of one grandson Frederic Byron Pinkney Jr.
Dr. Frederic is a product of the public school system; he attended Darnell Cookman Elementary and Junior High School, and New Stanton High School in Jacksonville. Dr. Pinkney graduated from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida and was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 1974.
In 1981, Frederic Pinkney answered the call of God into the gospel ministry. In 1982, he was licensed by Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church where Rev. Leo Cox was the pastor. One year later, he was called as the pastor of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church, located in Jacksonville, Florida. The church had seven members with the youngest being sixty years old. Pleasant Grove grew from seven members to hundreds before he was called to his next assignment. In 1992, Dr. Pinkney and fifty people founded Joshua Christian Faith Center. He brought his wife Gloria alongside him in ministry, and together, they are teaching the word with power and authority. Dr. Pinkney has a daily radio program and television ministry that airs in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas.
In 1990 – 1992, Dr. Pinkney was a member of the North Central Florida Primitive Baptist Association in Cocoa, Florida. He served as the Association General Secretary, Church School President, and Member of the committee to revise the Constitution for National Primitive Baptist Convention. Dr. Pinkney has been a speaker for various association and state convention meetings. Dr. Frederic Pinkney received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Saint Thomas Christian College. Dr. Pinkney and his wife Gloria founded Joshua Christian Academy; a preschool and grade school with an enrollment of 200 students. Dr. Pinkney is also the founder of The F.B.Pinkney Ministry which is (an outreach ministry for the purpose of educating the body of Christ through media), Faith For Men Ministry (a ministry that focus on strengthening and encouraging men), Bound and Happy (a ministry that reaches out to married couples), The Conextion (a ministry design to mentor pastors and future leaders in the five fold ministry), Outreach Missions (a ministry to West and East Africa that supports the personal and ministry needs of pastors), a Community Educational Tutorial Program, Christmas Toy Giveaway program that serves over 400 families a year, and a summer youth program that serves 250-300 children.
Dr. Pinkney is a dynamic teacher and outstanding preacher of the Gospel who walks by the Word of Faith – encouraging believers never to be moved by what you see, only by what you believe.
